David Rockefeller Fund 2030 Climate Targets

Posted: Jun 26, 2025

The David Rockefeller Fund (“the Fund”) joined the United Nations-convened Net Zero Asset Owner Alliance (“NZAOA”) in 2021, with climate-related investment targets to be achieved by 2025. These commitments included:

  • A 25% reduction in carbon emissions in the investment portfolio across selected asset classes.
  • A policy of engaging with the top corporate emitters among portfolio holdings, as well as with the Fund’s largest asset managers.
  • Continued industry engagement to encourage net zero commitments from similar organizations, guided by collaboration and transparency.

In achievement of its 2025 target, the Fund has accomplished portfolio decarbonization far exceeding its initial goal. The Fund has also delivered its engagement objectives, accompanied with ongoing strategy implementation, monitoring, and reporting.

The David Rockefeller Fund is now announcing new climate-related targets to be achieved by 2030. The Fund will continue to advance its climate objectives in response to climate-related opportunities and risks by setting a new 2030 target. These commitments will include:

  • A 50% reduction in carbon emissions in the investment portfolio across selected assets, consistent with science-based pathways to achieve net zero emissions by 2050.
  • Maintained focus on climate solutions investments which catalyze real-economy decarbonization.
  • Continued engagement with top corporate emitters among portfolio holdings and with the Fund’s largest asset managers.
  • Ongoing leadership and knowledge sharing with like-minded fiduciaries on climate commitments, advanced through investment, grant-making activities, and thought leadership.

The Fund will continue to prioritize real economy and societal outcomes in recognition of the relationship between socio-economic context and climate impacts. The Fund is committed to identifying and pursuing solutions that not only draw on financial capital, but also apply its social capital and engagement capabilities to drive meaningful progress.

As the David Rockefeller Fund reaffirms its commitment to iterative, impactful, and science-based target setting through its 2030 objectives, the Fund will continue to support capacity building for accelerated and meaningful commitments throughout the ecosystem, and invite participation in the forums, initiatives, and actions that are shaping a more just and climate-aligned future.
